A global law firm, with teams around the world working around the clock, has an HR team in every office in every country doing work behind the scenes to keep the firm humming. The Chief HR Officer had no process in place to communicate with the global HR team. She called us in to help untangle the need and find a solution which would allow her to communicate with her team and at the same time, to showcase the crucial work they do for the rest of the firm. It wasn’t just a matter of communicating, it was also about morale and elevating the perception of a large team doing really important work.
Working side by side with the CHRO and her senior team, we created a process and mechanism for communicating, which would ensure greater communication across the globe while, at the same time, allow team members to see – and showcase – the value they bring to the firm. A process and design for a monthly e-newsletter was developed, with a healthy mix of information, spotlights on different team members, high level updates from each department, and other news about new hires and promotions.
The new communication tool has been noticed! The firm’s CEO compliments each issue, proving that communicating in the right way with the right frequency can make a difference. The morale of the team is soaring, and the attorneys in the firm are now more cognizant of the work being done by this enormous, important team.
