Democracy Rules.

I woke up today much like the rest of the country; uneasy, unhappy, and mostly, as per my usual, impatient. No matter who we voted for, none of us are used to waiting for the outcome of a presidential election. And needless to say, this time around, we’re all pretty passionate about one candidate or the other.

But.

This is America, and even if the candidate you don’t want in the White House wins, we will all have another chance to vote in four years (not to mention all the volunteer work we can do for our causes between now and then).

Think back to four years ago. It was the same, no matter the side you were on. Because this is a democracy. And it was built to withstand all the divisiveness and contention we’re living through today.

Call me Pollyanna, but I believe in this democracy. And even if the candidate I chose doesn’t come out ahead in the end, this is my country and I will abide by the outcomes, knowing that the balance of power is in place, and that it will work. This democracy has weathered many challenges in it’s 200+ year history, and it  will continue to do so, long after this election.

America is my home and will remain my home. I believe in the rules. I believe in the Constitution. And I believe that good will prevail.

Let’s all remember that being passionate is a good thing, so let’s use that passion for good, no matter the outcome. Democracy rules.
