Patrick Snook

Photographer

Patrick has taken thousands of portraits over the last 20 years and enjoys learning something from every new shoot opportunity.

Our resident Brit, he’s learned his craft from the work itself, from customers who have given feedback during photo sessions, and from the generosity of other working photographers sharing their techniques in person, at workshops, and on the internet.

For everyone who “hates to get their photo taken,” Patrick may be the “photo whisperer.” His primary concern in ensuring a pleasant experience for the person being photographed. He practices a photographic style that emphasizes spontaneity, relaxed freshness, and collaborative creativity, all with minimal fuss—after having taken care to ensure that the photo session is planned for efficient use of the customer’s time and patience (or lack therof!).

He has a knack for putting customers at their ease in front of the camera and has garnered praise for his ability to conjure attractive portraits in beautiful light. He enjoys nothing more than arriving at a busy workplace and quickly setting up an unobtrusive studio, often staging photographs in the work environment itself.

Most of Patrick’s work involves photographing people at their best—even having a good time. In addition to individual and corporate headshot clients, and editorial photography, he photographs B’nai Mitzvah, weddings, anniversary parties, and families al fresco the year round.

Patrick’s photographs have appeared on many websites, personal and commercial, and in print—in books, the press, and numerous other national publications. Freelance editorial assignments have taken him around the region and the country; one particular assignment, a portfolio of pictures documenting musical traditions in the Piney Woods region of Mississippi, is now stored in the Library of Congress.

He has lived in Connecticut, Ohio, Mississippi, travels frequently to Texas and Oregon, and feels very much at home with his family in Elkins Park, PA.
